XI. Dr. Aysun - Ahmet Küçükel Medicine Awards found their owners with a ceremony held in Güven Hospital 14 March Hall.

Given by GÜVEN Health Group to young researchers in the field of medicine, In its 11th year, 'Dr. Aysun-Ahmet Küçükel Medicine Awards found their owners as "Best Scientific Research Award" and "Young Researcher Project Support Award".

At the ceremony held in Güven Hospital Conference Hall, 'Dr. Aysun-Ahmet Küçükel Medicine Awards found their owners. This year, two projects and two scientific research were awarded in two categories, "Best Scientific Research Award" and "Young Researcher Project Support Award", determined by the votes of the Güven Health Group Scientific Committee.


"WE SUPPORT YOUNG RESEARCHERS AND STUDIES"

Güven Health Group Scientific Committee President Prof. Dr. Deniz Evcik said, “We had 19 applications this year. Among these applications, we found two applications in the field of Basic Medicine and two applications within the scope of the Young Researcher Project Support."

'WE HAVE SHOWED THAT LEARNING AND SLEEP DISORDERS CAN REMOVE WITH URIDINE TREATMENT'

Büşra Öcalan, Research Assistant at Uludağ University Physiology Department, said that the award they received was the "Best Scientific Research Award". Öcalan said, “We received this award with our study examining the effect of uridine treatment on learning and memory functions in animals with sleep deprivation. In our study, we wanted to address the negative effects of sleep deprivation. Considering that especially university students are sleep deprived during the midterm and final weeks, we thought of conducting such a study to find out how insomnia performance affects their memory functions. After the study we conducted, we have shown that sleep deprivation and learning disability can be overcome with uridine treatment, ”he said.

"OUR STUDY IS SEEN AS AN IMPORTANT DEVELOPMENT"

Ege University Faculty of Medicine Assoc. Dr. Çığır Avcı said, “We worked on breast cancer. We worked with cancer stem cells, not just cancer cells. We cannot cure cancer without killing the cancer's stem cell. Our study was considered an important development and was deemed worthy of an award. Thank you ”he said.

"WE WILL USE OUR AWARD IN OUR WORK "

Gazi University Faculty of Medicine, Department of Biochemistry Research Assistant Dr. Burak Arslan said that their work was deemed worthy of the "Young Researcher Project Support Award" and stated that they will use their awards in their studies.

'WE ARE TRYING TO TURN OIL CELLS INTO CASE'

Saying that he received the "Young Researcher Project Support Award", Biomedical Engineer Şeyda Göker said, "We are currently working on converting fat cells into muscle cells in our laboratory. We take the remaining fat cells in liposuction operation, isolate them and try to turn them into muscles by using scaffolding. We actively achieve success. Our project continues. Our first results are promising. We believe our work will be successful, ”he said.
