Open and Endovascular Surgery
Our department is proficient in the full range of vascular surgical approaches from conventional open surgery to minimally invasive endovascular techniques including endovascular aneurysm repair (EVAR), thoracic endovascular aortic repair (TEVAR), angioplasty and stenting, catheter-directed thrombolysis, and percutaneous mechanical thrombectomy. The choice of approach is determined by clinical evidence and patient-specific anatomy not by institutional preference or technical limitation.
Aortic Surgery
Disease of the aorta, the body's principal artery, represents the highest-stakes territory in vascular surgery. Our team manages both elective aortic aneurysm repair and acute aortic emergencies, including dissection, with the surgical expertise and critical care infrastructure that these conditions demand. Endovascular and hybrid approaches are applied where anatomy permits, with the aim of reducing operative risk and recovery burden in eligible patients, in line with international vascular guidelines.
Diabetic Foot and Limb Preservation
Vascular complications of diabetes represent one of the most prevalent and consequential challenges in vascular practice. Our department operates a structured limb preservation programme combining vascular intervention, wound management, infectious disease input, orthopaedic collaboration, and podiatric care to maximise the prospect of limb salvage and functional recovery. Amputation is always the last resort, never the first response.
Hemodialysis Access Surgery
For patients with end-stage renal disease requiring hemodialysis, reliable vascular access is a clinical lifeline. Our vascular surgeons create and maintain arteriovenous fistulae and grafts with the technical precision and long-term planning that dialysis access demands working in close collaboration with our Nephrology Department to ensure that every patient's access needs are met without interruption to their renal replacement therapy.
